FUNKTION LIVE 2008 Part 7 Act 2

FUNKTION LIVE 2008 is once again proud to present May’s featured guests at our spiritual home, which is one of Leeds’ premier live music venues, The Library. That’s right, team FUNKTION we will once again be making a defiant stand against the norm as we provide one of the most original sound tracks to end your weekend on a natural high. We are truly bringing the sexy back this time, with some of the most soulful, jazz tinged funk fuelled vibes to put our region firmly back on the map with a real musical alternative which will undoubtedly keep you fully engaged all evening.

Act 2 of the seventh part of FUNKTION LIVE promises to be one huge musical onslaught unlike ever before. This will be a mammoth treat for the senses and it’s quickly lining up to be yet another special event to remember, because this time round we are making a point by exclusively showcasing the very talents of the infamously soulful, jazzy blues outfit Black Cat Bone, followed by another highlight which will be York’s happy go lucky, soulful, jazzy funksters Mr Parker. Who I have to say, opened the most recent FUNKTION LIVE event at Carpe Diem to a rapturous applause. Up next we have the devilishly good, funk rockers, Otters Pocket, making their FUNKTION LIVE debut to what will hopefully be a rather expectant crowd of dedicated followers.

After which, we have decided to bring those dreamlike qualities back to the fore with one of the hottest jazzed up, funked out, concept bands ever to hit the market in recent times with the very sultry, very sensual and eclectic Lazybaby. These new school funkers have on numerous occasions over the last six months or so, ripped it up at previous events we have staged and this event should be no exception. Believe me if you miss this performance you will be very sorry, because this band is on the way up, in fact they’re on a journey to the stars, you’ve heard it hear first. Matching punch for punch and blow for blow, the next act to grace the Library stage is non other than LCM’S very own, amazingly powerful and intricate 11th Floor. These guys are a fusion of nu-jazz influences and lashings of naughty, funky beats which will decimate this room for miles around. Stand back and watch them blow, it will be a sound to behold!
But just when you thought the line-up and evening couldn’t get any better, we have gone and done the dead, meaning we have signed up one of Leeds’ pride and joy’s. They have been with FUNKTION LIVE since day one and incredibly they have fully supported us which has led to a very fruitful relationship over the last six months. But due to these superstars being signed up to a major record label recently, it looks like we will be having to wave a very tearful goodbye, while at the same time wishing them good luck for the very bright future which lie ahead for them on the international stage which beckons.
They are the epitome of a hybrid formula which means jazz styles coupled with raw, soulful, indie hooks and soaring, melodic funk guitar and sax interludes which all fuse together to make one of the cheekiest, fun loving and catchiest bands to evolve from the Leeds music scene in years, after flogging the live scene to death. They truly deserve everything that follows and we are incredibly proud to have them headline this particular event. So Leeds, stand back, take note, marvel and be captivated by pure youthful talent and dedication alone, as Kinch do it all their own way just for you.
These guys are more than just a band folks they are living proof that Britain has got talent and they have it in abundance! Just make sure you catch them here on the Sunday 18th May, because the next time you see these lads live, it will either be on TV or at a major musical concert or even perhaps at one of the many music festivals with thousands of other revellers! As that famous Sheffield, funk, electro outfit, Moloko once said, ’’The Time Is Now’’ so are you ready and prepared to be cast into musical heaven yet? We know we are, so get ready because it’s all systems go, Superstar players here we go!

So after our incredibly well received event last month here at The Library we‘ve decided to take up residency here twice a month from June, which will include the third Friday of the month and the last Sunday of the month. That’s why we are preparing ourselves even now, to welcome you all back to FUNKTION LIVE’S, spiritual haven for some all together naughty adventures and the very best in live music that the north has to offer. This event is certainly not a preview of what you can expect, because this is the full on FUNKTION LIVE experience here at our home, The Library. Once again it’s almost time for the renaissance to take shape as we give to you, one of the best up and coming nights to change the musical landscape in Leeds for a while. World hold on because here we come!!!
